The Olympic Games, soon to take place in Paris, are the world's only truly global, multi-sport, celebratory athletics competition. What better way than to celebrate this historic event than with cake, a special way of creating joy and bringing people together.
Judging Criteria
The cakes were on display for the duration of the event, judged by chef, presenter and cookery book author, Phil Vickery and internationally renowned personal chef Mark Heirs. Prizes will be awarded by David Lilley, one of Scotland's top pastry chefs. Cakes were judged according to the following requirements:
- Originality and creativity of design
- Overall visual impact
- Skills and execution of technique
- Interpretation of the theme
