Paul McFadyen
Managing Director and Financial Planner,
Spectrum Wealth
Paul has worked in financial services since 2004, following his graduation from the University of Strathclyde with an MSci in Chemistry. While he enjoyed his time there, it also helped him realise that a career in science wasn't the right path for him. He went on to hold increasingly senior roles within a range of insurance companies, where he developed a strong foundation in the industry. Recognising a natural progression into financial advice, Paul began further studies and became an Independent Financial Adviser in 2009. This was a pivotal time for the profession, as the industry shifted away from transactional product sales towards long-term client relationships, higher qualifications, and a more professional, advice-led approach. Paul embraced this change, playing a key role at Independent Advisers (Scotland) Ltd, a firm that thrived during this transition. Alongside sitting further exams, he helped shape the firm's service proposition - always guided by how he would want to be treated as a client. Having worked across a variety of organisations, Paul firmly believes that a smaller, client-focused business is best placed to deliver genuine care, value, and meaningful outcomes. He is proud to have built the Spectrum team from the ground up, with a clear focus on client experience at its core. Paul advises clients across a broad range of financial and wealth planning areas. This includes retirement planning, investment strategies, pensions, protection, and tax-efficient wealth management. He works closely with individuals and families to create tailored, long-term financial plans - helping them grow, protect, and pass on their wealth with confidence.
