Muna Yassin MBE

CEO, Rooted Finance
Muna Yassin MBE is a highly experienced leader in financial inclusion, with over 20 years dedicated to supporting individuals and communities facing financial hardship. She is the CEO of Rooted Finance, a London-based specialist debt advice charity that provides tailored, one-to-one support for diverse ethnic communities. Through its work, Rooted Finance helps people navigate financial distress, manage multiple debts, and build long-term financial resilience and wellbeing. In March 2021, Muna was appointed to the VCSE Advisory Panel, convened by VCSE Crown Representative Claire Dove. The panel advises the UK Government on how voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations can better compete for public sector contracts. Later that year, she was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for her services to disadvantaged people during the COVID-19 pandemic, recognising her impact in delivering vital financial support at a critical time. Muna is passionate about tackling financial inequality and advancing economic empowerment, particularly for minoritised communities and women. She has also contributed to the sector through governance roles, including serving as a Trustee at Toynbee Hall and previously as a board member of Women Advancing Microfinance UK (WAMUK). At the Money Village, Muna will be available to offer practical guidance and insight on managing debt, improving financial resilience, and accessing support services. She can help attendees understand their options when facing financial challenges, provide advice tailored to diverse community needs, and share strategies for building greater financial confidence and stability.
