Del Gibbons

Originally born in Scotland, Derek (Del) has lived in London for 27 years, attaining both Masters (with commendation) and Honours degrees in music - graduating from both at the Royal Albert Hall. He has worked in the TV and Film industry since 2003 - both on screen and behind the scenes. This is his 8th year hosting the SuperTheatre stage. 

Del is also a big technology enthusiast, and his current passions of utilising AI for home design and renovation as well as the latest smart-home tech will form part of his 2026 tech talk on the Super-Theatre Stage. 

Del has had a wide range of acting and hosting experience, and even an excellent knowledge of gemstone jewellery, which he puts to use anchor presenting on Freeview channel TJC (The Jewellery Channel). He has been an expert on BBC One's "The Apprentice" advising the candidates how to deal with presenting with an earpiece and autoscript and he has also appeared with what he described as a “brilliant pirate accent (!)” as Hornigold’s Pirate Spokesman on the Top 5 smash hit Netflix series “The Lost Pirate Kingdom” (Netflix/ZDF), Co-Pilot “Jerry Smith” in the International TV docudrama “Air Crash Confidential Series 3” (Discovery Channel/Channel 9 Australia), hapless weatherman ‘Joe Randall’ in the BBC 2 comedy series “Broken News” alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Indira Varma, is seen briefly opposite Steve Coogan as a young police constable in the critically acclaimed ITV/Jed Mercurio Drama "Stephen", and plays an FBI Informant in “The Real Story of The Infiltrator” (ITV Studios Global Entertainment/WMR). Del has also been seen as a quiz and game-show host on terrestrial channels FIVE, ITV 1 and STV (ITV 1 Scotland)." 

Del has presented many live events and awards. He has been in conversation and hosted Q&A’s with Mary Berry, Gloria Hunniford, Phil Spencer, Keith Brymer Jones, George Clarke, Danni Menzies, Laura Hamilton, Martin Roberts, Richard Arnold, Nick Knowles, Olly Smith, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, The Style Sisters, Cliff Tan, Alice Beer, David Domoney, Joe Swift, John Amabile, Kate Hardcastle MBE, Marvin Ambrosius, Scarlette and Stuart Douglas, Banjo Beale, Danny Campbell, Anna Campbell-Jones, Ranvir Singh, Amanda Lamb, Wayne Perry, Rob Buckhaven, Rachel Henderson, The Skinny Jean Gardener and many, many more. He has appeared on-stage at London Olympia, London Excel, SEC Glasgow, Epsom Racecourse, MK Dons stadium, Congress Centre London and Celtic Manor.
