ASIGE is an innovative social enterprise that tackles two inter-related problems – directly addressing the environmental crisis by producing eco-friendly products and providing employment opportunities for disadvantage women. Using handmade and technology, we transform elephant grass into unique bags and baskets that are capable of replacing most everyday plastics in homes, shops and at events. ASIGE was started in Ghana in 2017 due the founder’s undergraduate research work and her master’s thesis at the University of Edinburgh that identified the gap in sustainable products in the UK. Through the Innovator Founder Visa, ASIGE has been incorporated in the UK.
