Saving Scotland’s Craft Traditions: SWI Take Their Skills to the Ideal Home Show
Get ready to get creative! The Scottish Women's Institutes (SWI) are taking part in this year's Ideal Home Show, bringing members from across the country to teach craft skills.
From 22–25 May, SWI members will be rolling up their sleeves and teaching visitors four brilliant hands-on craft workshops.
Fancy learning something new? Here's what's on offer:
-
Macramé Leaves: Get knotting and take home a gorgeous natural creation.
-
Textile Landscapes: Stitch your very own fabric scene, no experience needed.
-
Pyrography: Burn beautiful designs into wood with this striking and satisfying craft.
-
Decoupage: Create decorative coasters using layered papers and sealing techniques.
That's not all. SWI Board Trustee Jane Hogg will be front and centre for a live cookery demonstration on Sunday 24 May!
Diane Cooper, CEO of the Scottish Women’s Institutes said, “We're so excited to bring our craft workshops to the Ideal Home Show, our members are incredibly talented and have become masters of their crafts. “If you know a good thing pass it on” is an ethos we champion at the SWI, and this is a brilliant opportunity to share that ethos with a whole new audience."
Whether you're a seasoned crafter or have never picked up a needle or pyrography pen in your life, the SWI's workshops are welcoming, fun and completely hands-on.
