Billy Haynes (71) worked in the catering business before he joined the Army. It made sense to join the Army Catering Corps. He loved his Military life and the responsibility of the feeding the various Army units. He became well known for his fabulous creations of birthday and wedding cakes! Billy made his home in Erskine during the pandemic and only now appreciates what he had been missing as the home returns to its usual vibrant self. Billy is a resident who enjoys all aspects of the social life Erskine has to offer. He recently took part in the Kiltwalk with six of his fellow Veterans and was so proud to walk across the finish line himself, what a difference from 2020! Billy recently dyed his beard purple to raise cash for Erskine. Billy credits Erskine for getting him walking again. He is a regular visitor to the Erskine gym and he had the honour of laying the wreath on behalf of Veterans at years Remembrance service in 2022.
